1. Inspired by Waves and Streams: Kan Kit-Keung's Paintings, Calligraphy and installations

Inspired by Waves and Streams: Kan Kit-Keung's Paintings, Calligraphy and installations exhibition will be held from 26 November to 23 December at the Exhibition Area of the University Library.  The exhibition is in celebration of the CUHK 50th anniversary.

2. Flowers of the Garden: the First Decade of the HK Literature Collection at CUHK Library

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Chinese University of Hong Kong and to share with the public the fruits of the first decade of the Hong Kong Literature Collection, the University Library System and the Hong Kong Literature Research Centre jointly present this exhibition 'Flowers of the Garden: the First Decade of the HK Literature Collection at CUHK Library'.  The opening ceremony has been held on 11 October.  Mr. Liu Yichang, renowned Hong Kong writer, Prof. Joseph Sung, CUHK Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Lai Pan Chiu, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Prof. Ho Che Wah, Chairman of the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, and Ms. Louise Jones, University Librarian of CUHK officiated at the ceremony.

7. The Power of Word – Dialogues in the Arts

The Power of Word – Dialogues in the Arts held at the Learning Garden is jointly organized by the Independent Learning Centre, Hong Kong Literature Research Centre, Office of the Arts Administrator, Tolopoem, the University Library System and the Department of Chinese Language and Literature.  In September, the Power of Word organized a number of talks in the Learning Garden which covered various themes including documentary photography, Polish poetry and Cantonese opera.  These talks were very well-received and audiences responded enthusiastically with encouraging feedback.

8. A Gentle Reminder - Returning Books and Paying Fines

Graduating students and leaving staff: Please be reminded to return all your borrowed library items and clear all outstanding fines, if any, before you leave the University.  Your record may be sent to the University authorities if there are any unreturned library items and/or outstanding fines.  Degree Certificates of graduates with outstanding debts to the University will be withheld until the accounts have been settled.
