1. Going Green

Sustainability is important to the Library.  The new University Library Extension was awarded the highest possible rating of 'Platinum' for HK-BEAM, the Hong Kong Building Environmental Assessment Method, which measures the whole life environmental sustainability of buildings.  However we think there is more we can do.

2. Research Café Launched!

The first Research Café was successfully held on 28 Feb 2014 (Fri) in the University Library with presentations from research students on their own research projects.  The theme was Brain and Mind with Prof. Lau Chong-fuk of the Department of Philosophy as the guest moderator.

4. New E-resources for China Studies

People's Daily (人民日報) is the flagship newspaper that serves as the official newspaper of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party.  This newly subscribed database provides full text access to the complete archive of the People's Daily from its beginning issue in 1946 to the present, with functions of browsing by date, full text searching, and full-image reproductions, including images and advertisements of the original newspapers.

5. Thesis Writing Tips for Research Postgraduates

Co-organized with The Independent Learning Centre (ILC), the Library is pleased to offer two workshops for research postgraduate students on writing a thesis introduction and abstract in March 2014.  The workshops will be held at the Idea Exchange of the University Library.

7. Learning Garden: Stress Management Workshop

Chronic Stress causes many physical, cognitive and psychological problems including memory and learning problems, sleep problems, diarrhea and abdominal pain (i.e. functional gastrointestinal disorder), lower immune function (e.g. easier to get a cold), high blood pressure and aging.

10. Booking System for Faculty Study Rooms in the University Library

The Library is pleased to announce the launch of new Faculty Study Room booking system.  Faculty members and doctoral students can now reserve a room on the 3/F or 4/F of the University Library via the room booking system, and check-in to the designed room by CU Link Card.  Please click here for details.

11. Wi-Fi Printing Service in University Library System

A total of 34 Multi-Function Photocopiers (MFPs) in University Library and all branches of the ULS are now equipped with the Wi-Fi Printing capability, 2 out of which in the University Library are able to support Mac OS device.  In the coming summer, more MFPs in branches will be able to support Wi-Fi printing from Mac OS device.
