2. Academic Librarian Conference 3 (May 30 – 31, 2013)

In celebrating the 50th Anniversary of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, the University Library System at CUHK and The Joint University Librarians Advisory Committee (JULAC), a consortium that joins together in partnership the eight publically-funded Hong Kong institutions of higher learning, will hold a combined conference on 30th and 31st May 2013, entitled "Academic Librarian 3: The Yin-Yang of Future Consortial Collaboration and Competition".  Please refer to the website for more details. http://www.lib.cuhk.edu.hk/conference/alyy2013/

4. A Gentle Reminder - Returning Books and Paying Fines

Graduating students and leaving staff: Please be reminded to return all your borrowed library items and clear all outstanding fines, if any, before you leave the University.  Your record may be sent to the University authorities if there are any unreturned library items and/or outstanding fines.  Degree Certificates of graduates with outstanding debts to the University will be withheld until the accounts have been settled.

The Power of Word -- Dialogue in the Arts held at the Learning Garden of the University Library is jointly organised by the Independent Learning Centre, Hong Kong Literature Research Centre, Office of the Arts Administrator, Tolopoem, the University Library System and the Department of Chinese Language and Literature.

6. How to Publish in Academic Journals – Talks Series

The Library has arranged a series of talks on "How to Publish in Academic Journals" from March to May 2013 for researchers and postgraduate students by Elsevier, IOP (Institute of Physics) Publishing, SAGE and Wiley-Blackwell, leading international publishers of academic journals in a variety of subject disciplines.

7. Replacement of contact-only Library Card

In line with the University's development of the Smart University ID Card, the Library's Add Value Machines were decommissioned on June 30, 2012 and the Payflex charging devices for copying/printing card and contact-only smart card will be decommissioned effective June 30, 2013.
