1. Greetings from the new University Librarian

Since joining the Chinese University of Hong Kong as University Librarian in early January 2013 I have been overwhelmed with the warm welcome I have received, but even more impressed with the quality of the University Library System.

2. eResources Week - Thank You for Your Support

To promote the use of academic research resources, the University Library System organized the eResources Week from January to February.  This event included an online quiz, database seminars, exhibits and games.

3. From the Treasure House: Jewels from the Library of The Chinese University of Hong Kong

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and to showcase the collections of rare books in the University libraries, the University Library System and the University's Art Museum are mounting a joint exhibition titled 'From the Treasure House: Jewels from the Library of The Chinese University of Hong Kong' to enable the public to have a glimpse of the wide range of valuable publications, manuscripts and artworks in the University Library's holdings.

4. Library Workshops: March – April 2013

The University Library is pleased to offer the following workshops in March and April.  Students, in groups of ten or more, can also request library courses to suit their own information needs and schedules.

7. Dialogues in the Arts

"Dialogues in the Arts" is held at the Learning Garden of the University Library.  It is jointly organised by the Independent Learning Centre, Hong Kong Literature Research Centre, Office of the Arts Administrator, Tolopoem, the University Library System and the Department of Chinese Language and Literature.

8. Decommission of the Library's Payflex Devices on June 30, 2013

To correspond with the University's new development in the Smart University ID Card and the availability of the Online Add Value System for CU Link card holders to recharge their print account, the Library's Add Value Machines were decommissioned on June 30, 2012.  In addition, the Library's contact-only smart card has been replaced by a contactless smart card and the existing Payflex devices for charging copying/printing will be decommissioned effective June 30, 2013.
