4. Improvement Works to the LG/F, University Library

The LG/F of the University Library (UL) will be partially closed by phases from December 24, 2009 to mid February, 2010 for improvement works.

5. Decommission of the Library's Add Value Machines and Payflex Devices

To correspond with the University's new development in the Smart University ID Card and the availability of the Online Add Value System for CU Link card holders to recharge their print account, the Library's Add Value Machines will be decommissioned effective August 31, 2010.  In addition, the Library's existing smart card will be replaced by a contactless smart card and the existing Payflex devices for charging copying/printing will be decommissioned effective August 31, 2011.

6. Online Add Value System for Print Account

Besides using Add-Value Machine (AVM) to recharge their print account inside the libraries, CUHK students and staff can make deposit into their print account online at https://webapp1.itsc.cuhk.edu.hk/oavs/ through any VISA or MasterCard over a campus network connection.

8. Exhibition of "The Bei Shan Tang Legacies – Gifts of Chinese Rare Books"

In June 2008, the University Library System received a donation from the Bei Shan Tang Foundation which comprises 1,383 titles of Chinese ancient books in 9,886 volumes, among them, 52 titles are rare books (i.e. before 1796).  This is the largest donation of Chinese ancient books received by the Library in the last 40 years.  This Exhibition was especially held to express the thankfulness of the Library towards the Bei Shan Tang Foundation's generosity and support.

Professor Wu Weishan donated his autographed books, 《雕塑的詩性》及The poetry of sculpture to CUHK Library after the Ceremony for the Unveiling of the Bust of Professor Jao Tsung-I on November 12, 2009.

10. New Asia College Transferred a Donation of Ms. Nancy Kuo (an Alumna) to CUHK Library

New Asia College transferred a donation of Ms. Nancy Kuo (an Alumna) to CUHK Library.  The donation is in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of Alma Mater.  To express our deepest gratitude to Ms. Kuo for her generous and valuable donation, Acting University Librarian, Mrs. Rita Wong, presented a Certificate of Appreciation and souvenir to her on November 27, 2009.
