1. Library Workshops for September - November 2008

After attending any five courses on information search skills, participants will be granted a Library Information Literacy Certificate by the Library.  Students, in groups of ten or more, can request library courses to suit their information needs and schedules.  For detailed information, please contact the staff at the Reference Counter.

2. Citation Search Service for Faculty

The Library offers a citation search service to faculty members who are interested in finding out how many times their publications have been cited in the core journals of a discipline.  The citation search will be conducted by using ISI Web of Science.  A summary report exported from the databases searched will contain the authors, title of publication, affiliations/addresses, publication year/month and times cited.

3. RAPID Interlibrary Loan Consortium and Your Free Article Quota

To support the research needs of the CUHK communities, eligible users are granted free and subsidized quotas to obtain articles from CUHK, local and overseas libraries.

4. Reopening of the Information Commons (G/F) and Group Study Room 3 in the University Library

After a major renovation in Summer, the Information Commons and Group Study Room 3 were reopened on August 20, 2008.

5. Successful International Conference on E-Books Held at CUHK

Co-organized by the University Library System of The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Run Run Shaw Library of City University of Hong Kong, an international conference titled "Emerging Paradigms for Academic Library E-Book Acquisition and Use: Trends, Challenges and Opportunities" was successfully held on June 3, 2008 at Cho Yiu Conference Hall.

6. Donation Ceremony of the Hong Kong Christian Council Archive and the Launching of the Archive of Christian Study Centre on Chinese Religion and Culture

The CUHK Library has recently received a donation of archival materials from the Hong Kong Christian Council and a donation ceremony was held on June 2, 2008 at the Library.  Rev. Lee Ting-sun Ralph (General Secretary of Hong Kong Christian Council), Rt. Rev. Thomas Soo Yee Po (Bishop of the Diocese of Western Kowloon, Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui), Prof. Leung Yuen-sang (Head of Chung Chi College), and other faculty members attended to celebrate the occasion.
