The University has recently signed a licence agreement (course packs) with the Hong Kong Reprographic Rights Society (HKRRLS). The two-year licence agreement grants the University the right to make and use copies of the licenced materials for preparation of course packs subject to the terms and conditions set out in the agreement.
As noted by the Senate, a Copyright Clearing Office for clearing the copyright for course packs according to the licence agreement has been set up at the University Library System. The Copyright Clearing Office will act as the liaison and registration office for the HKRRLS. Individual departments/units will be responsible for producing course packs on campus, after approval is cleared from the HKRRLS via the Copyright Clearing Office. Individual departments/units thus need to ensure full compliance with the relevant legal obligations.
Detailed information and forms for clearing copyright of course packs are available at http://www.lib.cuhk.edu.hk/coursepack/intro.htm.
Enquiries can be directed to Ms. Carrie Tang of the Copyright Clearing Office (ext. 8571 or cco@lib.cuhk.edu.hk).
