People's Daily (人民日報) is the flagship newspaper that serves as the official newspaper of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party.  This newly subscribed database provides full text access to the complete archive of the People's Daily from its beginning issue in 1946 to the present, with functions of browsing by date, full text searching, and full-image reproductions, including images and advertisements of the original newspapers.

Shenbao (申報) is the earliest published newspaper in modern Chinese history.  This database includes the Shanghai edition 1872-1949, the Hankou edition 1938 and the Hong Kong edition 1938-1939.  It is an important source to study the governments, societies and foreign relations of China from the late Qing Dynasty to Republican era.

Zhongguo shu zi fang zhi ku (中國數字方志庫) provides pre-1949 Chinese chorography and local gazettes, covering manuscripts created in the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China period.  These valuable literatures, sometimes the only existing copy, are collected from nationwide public libraries, universities libraries, museums and private collectors.  The database provides chorography and local gazettes at the country as well as regional level across various historical periods, covering topics including landscape, water conservancy, famous scenery and monuments, temples, parks and forests, ethnography, travel records, geography in the border and foreign countries.  It is claimed to be modern China's largest and most authoritative local history dataset.
