6. Library Workshops: March – April 2014

The University Library is pleased to offer the following workshops in March and April.  Students, in groups of ten or more, can also request library courses to suit their own information needs and schedules.

Program 1: Library E-resources for Preparing Your Assignments
Do you know the Library has many online resources for helping you with your assignment?  In this workshop, online dictionaries, references, self-learning tutorials on English writing, study skills and bibliography management tools subscribed by the Library will be introduced to facilitate your assignment preparation.

Program 2: Finding Theses and Dissertations

Demonstrates how to locate theses and dissertations submitted by students from universities in Hong Kong, China, North America, and the United Kingdom.

Program 3: Creating Bibliography and Managing Citations Using Refworks
Demonstrates how to use RefWorks, a web-based bibliography management tool, to produce bibliographies and in-text references in a variety of citation styles (e.g. MLA, APA, Chicago, etc.).

Program 5: Finding Company Financials in Orbis

Orbis Europe consists of 48 million companies in Europe (both private and public companies), a simple platform where you can find extensive company financials.  This workshop will cover basic and advanced search for company financials, including hands-on practice.

Program 6: Doing Market and Deal analysis by ThomsonONE.com

ThomsonONE.com is a sophisticated web platform that delivers complete company and market information.  It helps drive productivity and generate transaction business amongst the deal making community by delivering real time market news and commentary, top down company insight and bottom up company and transaction analysis.  This training is designed to enable you to easily navigate through ThomsonONE.com to find market, industry and company information.  Focus will be on the breadth of content available in the Deals database, from Mergers and Acquisitions to Equity and Bonds New Issues.
