7. Learning Garden Event: Workshop Series on Farm-to-Table

Permaculture (永續栽培) is a sustainable development concept of merging local food production (agriculture) and wisdom (culture).  Everyone can grow their own food and share the food made with traditional recipes.

Co-organised by O-Farm & Permaculture Institute (HK) Limited, the workshops on Farm-to-Table cover a range of topics including permaculture gardening, concept of using food from farm to table, preparing seasonal recipes with special local vegetables, traditional food preservation methods and coffee making.  Participants will have hands-on experience in canning, preserving, processing and cooking of fresh local vegetables in traditional ways and different coffee making methods.

Program 1: Traditional Chinese vegetable preservation
Learn traditional Chinese vegetable preservation methods with different vegetable species such as Chinese mustard "Suet Choi" (雪菜), "Mai Choi" (梅菜) and Radish (蘿蔔).

Program 2: Japanese daikon recipe: takuan (沢庵漬) & nanakusa-gayu (七草粥)
Learn traditional Japanese daikon (radish) recipe.  "Takuan" (沢庵漬) is a very popular and traditional preservation method of daikon.  "Nanakusa-gayu" (七草粥) is a traditional congee recipe to purify our body and welcome the new year coming.
