The University Library System is always deeply grateful to any organization or person who gives books or other materials to the Library. Mrs. Liu Yat-yuen and her family have generously donated more than 700 pieces of the late Mr. Liu's valuable collection to the University Library over the last year. Mr. Liu was a famous journalist, writer and film producer. The donation includes books, periodicals, photos, personal belongings, souvenirs, Chinese paintings and calligraphies signed to Mr. Liu by renowned Modern Chinese artists, such as He Xiangning, Mao Dun, Mai Huasan, Zhang Zhengyu, Huang Yongyu, Huang Zhou and Pujie.
"An Exhibition of Donations of Mrs. Liu Yat-yuen" presented by the University Library System will be held from September 26 to October 23, 2005 at Exhibition Hall, University Library. The exhibition is open to the public. During the exhibition period, an oral history interview with Liu Yat-yuen on 1997/10/15 produced by Hong Kong Film Archive will be shown in the User Education Room 3, Exhibition Hall, University Library.

The Opening Ceremony will be held on September 26, 2005, Monday, at 11:30 am at Exhibition Hall, University Library. The Library is honoured to have Mr. Ng Hong-mun, Hong Kong Deputy to the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China, Prof. Liu Pak-wai, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University and Dr. Colin Storey, University Librarian to officiate at the ceremony.
