2. 700,000 Chinese eBooks are now searchable on OPAC

The University Library System (ULS) is happy to announce a new addition of 700,000 Chinese eBooks to our electronic collection.  This brings the 24/7 easily accessible eBook collection of the Library to over 2,000,000 titles.  The collection covers major publishers, university and many small presses.

In order to make these 700,000 newly added Chinese eBooks discoverable in a timely manner, the Cataloguing Department has cooperated with the China Academic Library & Information System (CALIS) which is led by Peking University Library, to pilot a project to adopt CALIS cataloguing records.  The pilot was successfully completed within a year and it demonstrates the great value of close collaboration among libraries and paves the way for further collaborative opportunities with CALIS.
