Renovation of the Information Commons (G/F) in the University Library |

The Information Commons and Group Study Room 3 on the G/F of the University Library will be temporarily closed from June 4 – August 3, 2008 for a major renovation. Users can use the Information Commons on the 1/F of the University Library and in the Law Library during the renovation period. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

A Gentle Reminder - Returning Books and Paying Fines |
|
For graduating students and leaving staff: please be reminded to return all your borrowed library items and clear all outstanding fines, if any, before you leave the University. Your record may be sent to the University authorities if there is any unreturned library item and/or outstanding fines.
For other library users: please be reminded to return any overdue library item(s) you have and pay the accrued fines. If you do not return the overdue item(s), your Library borrowing privileges may be suspended. For more information, please see the Library Regulation on "Loss of Privileges" for overdue books and payments of charges.

British Standards Online British Standards Online provides access to a growing collection of 27,000 current standards from the British Standards Institution (UK's National Standards body). It contains full-text of most of the BSI national adoptions of European standards and selected International standards from ISO and IEC. Covered subjects include agriculture, biometrics, environment, healthcare, nanotechnologies, transport, etc.

An Exhibition of the Special Collection in CUHK Libraries -- Gao Xingjian: Literature and Art |
|
One of the events of the Gao Xingjian Arts Festival co-presented by The Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau, the Exhibition will display materials collected or donation received by the Gao Xingjian Repository in CUHK Libraries. These materials include monographs, magazines, journal articles, photographs, manuscripts, posters and paintings. The exhibits will especially include part of the manuscript of Soul Mountain, paintings donated by Dr. Gao and the translations of Soul Mountain and One Man's Bible in different languages. Dr. Gao Xingjian will officiate at the opening and the new book launch and signing ceremonies.

The Library is pleased to provide CUHK members with a growing collection of e-books (presently over 800,000 titles) via the Library website. To help our users learn more about this new type of content, various e-book vendors such as Oxford University Press, Wiley-Blackwell, Springer, EBSCO, ProQuest, Apabi, ebrary, etc. will set up exhibition booths at the University Library on June 3 to demonstrate their most current online collections and electronic platforms. All are welcome to this exhibition and details are as follows:

"Exhibition of Autographed Books by Chinese and Singaporean Writers of Modern Chinese Literature" |
|
The Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Library and the University Library System of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) jointly held an "Exhibition of Autographed Books by Chinese and Singaporean Writers of Modern Chinese Literature" in the Exhibition Hall of the NTU Library from April 10 to May 9, 2008 in Singapore. Prof. Lawrence Wong (Chair of the School of Humanities & Social Sciences of NTU), Mr. Choy Fatt Cheong (University Librarian of NTU), and Dr. Colin Storey (University Librarian of CUHK) officiated at the Opening Ceremony on April 10, 2008. Selected autographed works of 54 Chinese and 12 Singaporean writers are displayed in the exhibition.
