Due to the refurbishment works to improve the study environment over the summer break, 4/F and part of the 3/F of the University Library will be closed from May 14 to August 13, 2007. Please ask at the Circulation Counter at the G/F of the Library if you need to retrieve books from the stacks in these areas.

Information Literacy Courses for CUHK Students: May - June 2007 |
|
The University Library is pleased to offer intensive courses from May to June 2007 to assist students in preparing for the Information Literacy Section of the Student IT Proficiency Test. The course provides not only an overview of the Web-based Information Literacy Tutorial, but also includes exercises and practices in (1) formulating search strategies, (2) finding information using the Library Catalogue, research databases and the Internet, and (3) evaluating information sources.

Organized by the University Library System of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, the international conference "The Academic Librarian: Dinosaur or Phoenix? Die or Fly in Library Change Management" was held successfully on April 11-12, 2007. During these two days, over 170 librarians and scholars from all over the world shared and exchanged their views on the following four main themes of the conference:
1. Academic Library Change Management 2. Organizational Preparation and the Changing Workplace 3. The Librarian and the Faculty, Student Body, and the General Public 4. The Right Staff?

The Brush Dances and the Ink Sings: the Calligraphy of Professor So Man-jock (1921-1997) The exhibition titled "The Brush Dances and the Ink Sings: the Calligraphy of Professor So Man-jock (1921-1997)" was officially opened on 20 April 2007. The exhibition is co-organized by United College, Art Museum and University Library System of The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Ming Society.
