6. Anatomy Online Reference - Upgrades of Primal Pictures to Anatomy Premier Library Package with 3D Anatomy for Speech Language Pathology

Primal Pictures is a 3D interactive human anatomy program, available at OvidSP.  It is recently upgraded to Anatomy Premier Library Package which is the most comprehensive package of multimedia modules.

It covers the following broad range of titles:

  1. Human Anatomy: Regional Edition (9 titles) - focuses on specific body regions
  2. Human Anatomy: Systemic Edition (15 modules) - focuses on specific body systems
  3. Interactive Functional Anatomy
  4. Sports & therapy Series (10 modules) - covers acupuncture, pilates, hand therapy, resistance training and sports injuries
  5. Surgery Series (5 modules) - highlights surgical procedures and post-surgery rehabilitation
  6. Specialty titles (10 titles) tailored to specific disciplines and fields including:
New 3D Anatomy Speech Language Pathology - Detailed and interactive 3D modelling of the head and neck area with a focus on anatomy most relevant to speech therapists: nasal and oral cavities, pharynx, larynx, respiratory system, ear, facial muscles and nervous system.  Animated sequences that cover respiration and swallowing will be added as well as content suitable for patient education.

All the images are derived from actual medical MRI data.  All the 3D models can be manipulated to peel away anatomic layers, modified to display arteries, veins, and nerves, rotated 360 degrees and layers can be reconstructed back to their original structure.  You can also easily export images, text, movies, and animations to use in presentations and patient handouts.  Hypertext links are provided between images, animations, movie clips, slides, and accompanying textual descriptions.

The availability of a complete human anatomy study guide with interactive quizzes and a test bank make it an invaluable review and study tool for residents and students.
