2. Information Literacy Courses for CUHK Students: September – November 2011

The University Library will offer intensive courses from September to November 2011 to assist students in preparing for the Information Literacy Section of the Student IT Proficiency Test.

The course provides not only an overview of the Web-based Information Literacy Tutorial, but also includes exercises and practice tests in:

  1. Formulating search strategies.
  2. Finding information using the Library Catalogue, research databases and the Internet.
  3. Evaluating information sources.

Eight three-hour identical sessions are scheduled as follows:

September 28, 2011 (Wednesday) 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
October 8, 2011 (Saturday) 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
October 20, 2011 (Thursday) 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
October 29, 2011 (Saturday) 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
November 5, 2011 (Saturday) 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
November 12, 2011 (Saturday) 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
November 14, 2011 (Monday) 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
November 19, 2011 (Saturday) 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Venue: User Education Room 2, G/F University Library

Medium of Instruction: Cantonese, but will change to English when there is any student who does not know Cantonese.
