1. LibQUAL+ Library Survey 2014 – Your Opinions Count!

The Chinese University of Hong Kong Library is conducting a LibQUAL+ survey from November 3 – 23, 2014.  LibQUAL+ is a survey developed by the Association of Research Libraries (ARL) to measure library service quality and identify best practices internationally.  By responding to the survey, you will provide essential information for us to improve services and resources for you.

6. Research Café in Nov 2014

The third Research Café organized by the Library will be held on Nov 14, 2014 (Fri).  The themes will be on Nature and Automation.  It will consist of a sharing talk by Prof. Amos P.K Tai, Assistant Professor, Earth System Science Programme, Faculty of Science, and presentations from research postgraduate students on automation.  Mr. Ray Chau, Assistant Lecturer, The Independent Learning Centre, will provide feedback on student presentation skills.

Research Café held in May 2014: Prof. Rossa CHIU from Faculty of Medicine gave sharing talk on researching across disciplines. Prof. Lawal Marafa from Dept. of Geography and Resource Management moderated the presentations on sustainability.  Mr. Peter Andrews from The Independent Learning Centre provided feedback on presentation skills for the two PhD student presenters.

 

7. New Publication - From the Treasure House: Jewels from the Library of The Chinese University of Hong Kong

The Chinese University of Hong Kong Library is pleased to announce a new publication, " From the Treasure House: Jewels from the Library of The Chinese University of Hong Kong ".  It is a commemorative volume to celebrate the University's 50th anniversary with a joint exhibition held with the Art Museum in 2013.

9. 'Book Exhibition on Xiao Hung and the Northeast Writers' & 'Ann Hui: A Retrospective Film Exhibition'

In collaboration with the Power of Words, the 'Book Exhibition on Xiao Hung and the Northeast Writers' and 'Ann Hui: A Retrospective Film Exhibition' were held successfully at the New Asia College Ch'ien Mu Library and United College Wu Chung Multimedia Library respectively from September 17 - October 17, 2014.

13. JULAC Library Card Replacement

JULAC has a new style Library card to replace the existing paper card.  The new, durable plastic card has a common barcode and you no longer need to bring photocopies of your application forms when registering at host libraries.  The JULAC Library Card gives you access to all other UGC-funded libraries.  You may borrow books and use resources when you visit these libraries.

14. A Gentle Reminder - Returning Books and Paying Fines

Graduating students and leaving staff: Please be reminded to return all your borrowed library items and clear all outstanding fines, if any, before you leave the University.  Your record may be sent to the University authorities if there are any unreturned library items and/or outstanding fines.  Degree Certificates of graduates with outstanding debts to the University will be withheld until the accounts have been settled.
