1. Remembering the Breeze: Hong Kong in the 50s and 60s from the Ng Ho Collection

To pay our tribute to the late Mr. Ng Ho who made significant contributions to the development of and research on Hong Kong history and culture, and with his wife's, Mrs. Ng Wong Kar Wai, full support, the Library is glad to present this exhibition "Remembering the Breeze: Hong Kong in the 50s and 60s from the Ng Ho Collection".

The opening ceremony was held on 27 March 2015 at 4:30 p.m. at the University Library Exhibition Area.  Mrs. Ng Wong Kar Wai, Prof. Joseph Sung (Vice-Chancellor and President, CUHK), Prof. Leung Yuen Sang (Dean of Arts, CUHK), and Ms. Louise Jones (University Librarian, CUHK) officiated at the ceremony.

The exhibition presents Hong Kong ordinary people's life in the 50s and 60s through four main themes: the old ordinary life, popular entertainment, commodity and consumption, and politics and society.  Items on display include valuable materials collected by Mr. Ng in the past decades, such as popular readings and materials from daily life.  We hope that through this exhibition, the CUHK community and the public's interest in and promotion of the knowledge, development and preservation of local culture will be further aroused.
