To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Department of Philosophy and the centenary of Mr. Tang Chun-I, the Department of Philosophy and the Philosophy Alumni Association organized a series of activities. Among which was an exhibition entitled 'Guardian of the Spiritual Value of Chinese Culture: Tang Chun-I Centenary Exhibition'. This exhibition was held at the New Asia College Ch'ien Mu Library from May 18 to June 8, 2009. The exhibition introduced the life of Mr Tang and his contributions. The exhibits included Mr. Tang's precious photographs, rare manuscripts, and early editions of his important works.
Tang Chun-I (1909-1978) was born in mainland China and moved to Hong Kong in 1949. He was one of the founders of the New Asia College. He was also the founding Chairman and the first Chair Professor of the Department of Philosophy. He was one of the leading exponents of Neo-Confucianism, with his works being highly influential in both eastern and western academia.
