6. The University Library System has added more than 10,000 volumes of Republican China re-print publications

"Mingguo Jicui" (Republican China re-print) is an academic collection of major publications from the Republican China period (1911-1949).  Republican China was the new era of innovation and the meeting of the East and the West in Chinese cultural history.

Since 1979, a number of major publishers have gradually re-published the books from the Republican China period and have preserved many historical academic resources.  In the last ten years, since research on Republican China has become more popular, people need to review the academic resources of that period and therefore the Republican China re-prints have become more valuable.  "Mingguo Jicui" was coordinated by the CALIS working group, together with senior librarians from prominent universities such as Peking University, Fudan University, Nanjing University, Wuhan University, Xiamen University, Zhejiang University and others.  The University Library System of CUHK was also invited to join this project.  "Mingguo Jicui" basically reflects the status of the overall level of academic books published in the Republican China period.  It can be said that this project is by far the most systematic, and also one of the largest academic library preservation projects for Republican China publications.  The whole set of "Mingguo Jicui" is 10,623 volumes.  The first batch is now located at the University Library and the second batch will be added later.
