2. An Exhibition in Memory of Professor Shiu-Ying Hu Opening Ceremony

Jointly presented by The Chinese University of Hong Kong Chung Chi College and University Library System at the Chung Chi College Elizabeth Luce Moore Library on October 11, 2012.

Mr. Karl Kwok, Chairman of Chung Chi College Board of Trustees, CUHK, Professor Hau Kit Tai, Pro-Vice-Chancellor/Vice-President, CUHK, Professor Leung Yuen Sang, Head of Chung Chi College, Professor Leung Wing Nang Albert, Director of School of Chinese Medicine and Dr. Colin Storey, University Librarian, officiated at the Ceremony.

Professor Hu passed away on 22 May this year.  She was an eminent scholar in plant taxonomy and a great authority on Aquifoliaceae (冬青科), Malvaceae (錦葵科), Orchidaceae (蘭科) and Compositae (菊科).  Devoted wholeheartedly to the research of plant taxonomy throughout her working life, Professor Hu produced and identified as many as 24,000 plant specimens.  She was also a prolific researcher and published more than 160 books, journal articles and research papers.

Exhibits include Professor Hu's learning, teaching and research materials, manuscripts, specimens, publications and photos.  We hope that through this exhibition, the CUHK community can learn more from Professor Hu's works, accomplishments, contributions, and most of all, her deeply positive attitude towards teaching, research and life.

The exhibition is being held at the Chung Chi College Elizabeth Luce Moore Library and Tang Ngan Leng Centre for General Science Education from now to December 16, 2012.
