The University Library System would like to express our deepest gratitude to Mr. Shum Hing Shun, Prof. James Watt, Mr. Sou Si-tai and Dr. Tse Chun Yan for their generous and kindly help in verifying the manufacturing date of an ancient qin donated by Professor Rulan Chao Pian.  They are very prominent qin musicians, experts, scholars and collector.  Also, we wish to thank Prof. Fok Tai Fai and Prof. Francis Chan for their great support in arranging and conducting the endoscopy for the qin. 

With the help of an endoscope, the inside cavity of the qin was examined. Judging from the qin's wood, sound, shape and design, the manufacturing date of the qin is estimated to be around early Ming (1368 – 1644).  It is a great honor and fortune for the Library to have this invaluable donation.
