Introduction to RefWorks
RefWorks is a web-based bibliography and database manager that allows users to import citations from databases, produce bibliographies in a variety of citation styles (e.g. MLA, APA, Chicago, etc), format in-text references or footnotes, and create personal databases of citations. This hands-on workshop will cover setting up a RefWorks Account, creating folders, importing references from databases, creating a bibliography in a variety of formats/styles, and using Write-N-Cite.

Searching Theses and Dissertations
Introduces and demonstrates the use of databases on dissertations such as Current Research@CUHK, ProQuest Digital Dissertations, 萬方數據-中國學位論文庫, as well as locating theses and dissertations in academic libraries in Hong Kong.
Advanced Library Catalogue Searching
Demonstrates the advanced techniques for searching the CUHK Library Catalogue. Topics covered include the use of operators, field-specific searches, types of materials, HKALL, etc.
WiseNews
WiseNews covers major Chinese newspapers in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau. The speaker from the WiseNews will provide updated content of the database and demonstrate the operation of WiseSearch.
Datastream Advance
Datastream Advance provides current and historical time series data on stocks, stock indices, derivatives, interest rates, commodities, exchange rates, and economic indicators from all major markets in the world. The workshop will demonstrate how to use the database to obtain various financial data.
ISI Web of Science
The Web of Science provides seamless access to current and retrospective multidisciplinary information from approximately 8,700 of the most prestigious, high impact research journals in the world. This workshop will provide in-depth instruction on citation navigation, citation alerts, analysis, times cited, and who's citing who.
Chinese Databases on Humanities and Social Sciences
Introduces and demonstrates the searching of Chinese databases on various subjects in humanities and social sciences.
Effective Internet Searching and Evaluation of Web Sites
Overviews and demonstrates effective means of searching the Internet, as well as how to select and evaluate internet resources for information.
