After attending any five courses on information search skills, participants will be granted a Library Information Literacy Certificate by the Library. Topics covered include library services and resources, your borrowing privileges, how to renew and place holds on library materials in the Library Catalogue, and a library tour.
Programme 2: Advanced Library Catalogue Searching
Demonstrates the advanced techniques for searching the CUHK Library Catalogue. Topics covered include field-specific searches, types of materials, My Library Record, HKALL, etc.
Programme 3: Searching Journal Articles
Jump start your research project – effective journal article searching.
Programme 4: Electronic Resources on Specific Subjects
Includes business and financial information, Chinese literature, education, humanities and social science.
Programme 5: Effective Internet Searching
Demonstrates Internet search techniques to find quality information on the Web.
Programme 6: Theses and Dissertations @ Your Fingertip
Introduces and demonstrates the use of databases on dissertations such as ProQuest Dissertations and Theses, Digital Dissertation Consortium, Dissertations and Theses @ CUHK, WanFang Data-Chinese Dissertations Database, as well as locating theses and dissertations in academic libraries in Hong Kong.
Programme 7: Managing Your Citations with RefWorks
Demonstrates how to use RefWorks, a web-based bibliography and database manager, to produce bibliographies and in-text references in a variety of citation styles (e.g. MLA, APA, Chicago, etc.).
