6. "Exhibition of Autographed Books by Chinese and Singaporean Writers of Modern Chinese Literature"

The Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Library and the University Library System of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) jointly held an "Exhibition of Autographed Books by Chinese and Singaporean Writers of Modern Chinese Literature" in the Exhibition Hall of the NTU Library from April 10 to May 9, 2008 in Singapore.  Prof. Lawrence Wong (Chair of the School of Humanities & Social Sciences of NTU), Mr. Choy Fatt Cheong (University Librarian of NTU), and Dr. Colin Storey (University Librarian of CUHK) officiated at the Opening Ceremony on April 10, 2008.  Selected autographed works of 54 Chinese and 12 Singaporean writers are displayed in the exhibition.

As part of the exhibition programme, the School of Humanities & Social Sciences of NTU and NTU Library had jointly organized a series of talks related to the theme of the exhibition for the general public on April 10, 2008 at NTU.  Three eminent scholars from China, Hong Kong and Singapore were invited as guest speakers to share their knowledge in modern Chinese literature.  They were Prof. Chen Shuyu, China's Lu Xun research specialist, Prof. Lo Wai Luen of the Hong Kong Literature Research Centre of The Chinese University of Hong Kong and well-known Singaporean writer Prof. Liang Wern Fook.  These three talks were well-received by over 100 participants.
