The University Library is pleased to offer library workshops and information literacy courses in November.

Programme 1. Searching Theses and Dissertations
Introduces and demonstrates the use of databases on dissertations such as ProQuest Dissertations and Theses, Digital Dissertation Consortium, Dissertations and Theses @ CUHK, WanFang Data - Chinese Dissertations Database, as well as locating theses and dissertations in academic libraries in Hong Kong.

Programme 2. Document Information Sources with RefWorks
Demonstrates how to use RefWorks, a web-based bibliography and database manager, to produce bibliographies and in-text references in a variety of citation styles (e.g. MLA, APA, Chicago, etc.).  Topics covered include setting up a RefWorks Account, creating folders, importing references from databases, creating a bibliography in a variety of formats/styles, and using Write-N-Cite to create in-text references.

Programme 3. Information Literacy Courses
The course is to assist students in preparing for the Information Literacy Section of the Student IT Proficiency Test.  It provides not only an overview of the Web-based Information Literacy Tutorial, but also includes exercises and practices in (1) formulating search strategies, (2) finding information using the Library Catalogue, research databases and the Internet, and (3) evaluating information sources.
