We are pleased to bring to you Issue 17 of CW Chu College Newsletter, which summarises the events and achievements from July 2017 onwards. In 2017–18, our second graduation ceremony took place and we have our sixth cohort; the character and tradition of the College continue to take root and grow.

Dr David CHU Awarded Honorary Doctorate
|
A group of Chu Scholars reunited at Vincennes University in Indiana, USA on 13 and 14 October 2017. On this joyous occasion, Dr David CHU, the eldest son of Dr CHU Ching-wen and the Chairman of the Committee of Overseers of CW Chu College, was conferred an honorary doctorate by Vincennes University.

Highlights of Cultural Exchange Activities

Thanksgiving Party
The College was pleased to have two incoming exchange students from the United States, Mr Chandler KELLOGG from the University of South Carolina and Mr Colin RUMBOLD from the University of California, Riverside, to play host to the party on 23 November 2017.

2nd CWC Festival: The Unexp10red
|
College students organised the second CWC Festival, The Unexp10red, held between 31 October and 6 November 2017, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the College, which was created through an amendment of the CUHK Ordinance in 2007.

College Service Team
|
Activities Organised by the Fifth Service Team (June–September 2017)
College students starting from our first cohort have each year formed a Service Team. The signature project each year centres around youth, in collaboration with Po Leung Kuk CW Chu College (PLKCWC), in helping teenagers at the cusp of transition to adulthood. Within the project, the keynote event is a summer camp of three days and two nights, in this (the fifth) cycle held from 15 to 17 July 2017, at the Breakthrough Youth Village in Shatin.

Incoming Exchange Students (2017–18)

Welcome Lunches in Term 1 and 2, 2017–18
In 2017–18, the College welcomed a total of 55 incoming exchange students (26 in Term 1 and 29 in Term 2) from Austria, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Japan, mainland China, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, the Netherlands, Turkey, the UK and the US at welcome lunches (one in each term) on 1 September 2017 and 12 January 2018.
