The Awards were introduced in 1991 to recognize tertiary students with outstanding leadership and significant contribution to the community. It is co-organized by the Hong Kong Student Services Association (HKSSA) and the Hong Kong Outstanding Tertiary Students' Services Association (HKOTSSA). HKSSA is a non-profit organization formed by student affairs representatives from tertiary institutions in Hong Kong. This year, a total of 19 full-time undergraduate students, out of 190 applicants from nine tertiary institutions, were selected on the basis of their social involvement, leadership potential and participation in extra-curricular activities and academic standing.
Chesley is keen on youth services and is good at communicating with youths. As the founding chairperson of the CW Chu College Service Team, she led her executive committee to serve the youth community especially those who may not be academically strong, but have their own talents and potentials. She, with her teammates in the Service Team, provided them with different types of training and successfully improved their self-confidence. Being highly enthusiastic about social services, she will encourage more youths in community participation. She hopes that the youths can be inspired and contribute more actively to community services.
