The Honour Code Pledging Ceremony

The Honour Code Pledging Ceremony for the new students of the 2015 cohort was held at the 4th session of Extended Orientation on 25 September 2015. Prof Stephen Hall, advisor of the Student Honour Code Committee (SHCC), was invited as the commissioner to witness the pledging session. He also introduced to the new students the history of the Honour Code system in tertiary institutions overseas and its development in the College.

Students stood together, placed their hands on their hearts, and made the following solemn pledge:

As a student member of the CW Chu community, I pledge on my honour to comport myself with honesty, integrity and courtesy in my academic and personal life. I understand that failure to observe these standards violates the Honour Code and undermines the community of trust and respect, of which we are all stewards.

After the pledging, students signed the Honour Pledge in front of members of SHCC and promised to be self-disciplined.

College Fellows Prof Wong Suk Ying, Prof Thomas Au, Prof Peter Ferretto, Dr Ng Siu Kuen and Dr Laura Pozzi also witnessed the Ceremony.
