The Peer Mentoring Program was launched by The Independent Learning Centre (ILC) in collaboration with the College, to help new students in their transition to university life, by offering individual support from an upper-year student trained by ILC and the Office of Student Affairs.
In Term 1 of the academic year 2015–16, 15 mentees joined and were matched with 9 mentors. Mentors attended formal training sessions organized by ILC in October 2015. They were closely supported by an ILC Lecturer throughout Term 1. A Mentee Preparation Session was also held on 8 October 2015 to familiarize mentees with programme support and requirements. College Mentors and mentees met regularly, and were monitored and supported by ILC. A Certificate Presentation Ceremony was held on 26 Nov 2015 to celebrate successful completion of the programme. Dr Yvonne Loong, Senior Lecturer of ILC, and Prof Kenneth Young, College Master, attended the ceremony and witnessed their achievements.
