Mr. Johnie Goh, Senior Manager (middle), International Relations Office, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. The purpose of this visit was to exchange ideas on setting up an exchange programmes between the Physical Education and Sports Science (PESS) Unit of NTU and the Department of Sports Science and Physical Education, CUHK.
Prof. James Morrow, Regent Professor of the University of North Texas, visited the Department as the external examiner for the undergraduate programme, from 11 to 19 March 2010. Prof. Morrow was the former Department Chair of the University of North Texas where runs a similar physical education undergraduate programme as the CUHK. Prof. Morrow served as the Editor-in-Chief of an internationally well-known journal, the Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport, from 1989 to 1993. He was also the Wei Lun Visiting Fellow of the CUHK in year 2000. The visit of Prof. Morrow this time is the last exercise for our programme review conducted by an overseas external examiner which will be replaced by the visiting review committee in the next round in July 2011. During the visit, Prof. Morrow met with the Provost, the Faculty Dean, all teaching staff of the department, student representatives, and the Secretary of Undergraduate Examinations Board. Fruitful discussion and suggestions bring significant insights into improving our existing programme which will also facilitate our future development towards 334 restructuring.
