Mid-Autumn Festival Gathering
CW Chu College and the Resident Association (RA) of International House Block 3 organized a gathering on 18 September 2013 to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival. The event was held in the open space outside International House Block 3.
College professors, tutors, staff and students including incoming exchange students from around the world enjoyed riddles, karaoke and a candle-blowing competition. They made wishes under the full moon. Many participants also tried the moon cakes donated by professors, as well as the sweet soups prepared by RA members. Some of the international and exchange students tasted moon cakes for the first time.
Master Meets New Students
Continuing the tradition with the founding cohort, three sessions were held in October 2013, for Professor Kenneth Young, College Master, to meet new students, to get to know them better. In order to encourage spontaneous interactions, the event was organized in three language sessions (Cantonese, Putonghua and English), all on weekday evenings (2, 3 and 9 October) in the Activity Room in International House. Also present were the Dean of Students and other College staff.
Sharing Session on Black Culture
In association with CUHK Black International Community (BIC) and the Office of Student Affairs, Miss Djata Djouossi Sigam (Switzerland), an exchange students at CW Chu College, organized a cultural sharing session entitled 'What does it mean to be BLACK?'. It included an introductory presentation about the work that CUHK BIC wishes to accomplish. It also opened the subject of the diversity of the black community and important public figures who have reshaped the 'black' condition for discussion. The participants enjoyed the sharing session, which gave them a full picture of black culture.
College members joined the CUHK 50th Anniversary Banquet
Members of the Committee of Overseers, the Master, the Dean of Students, teachers and student ambassadors of the College joined the CUHK 50th Anniversary Banquet on 8 December 2013, held in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
