This beautiful night was memorable and full of enjoyment from music performances. The Music for CM Li Concert has been held for a few years, to commemorate the contribution of Dr. Li Choh-ming, the founder of the Institutes of Chinese Studies and the first Vice-Chancellor of CUHK. Dr. Li believed that CUHK is responsible to extend the Chinese Culture “by promoting the combination of traditions and modernity, as well as the cultural hybridity of
East and West”. By making this event near the statue of Dr. Li, it is hoped that this Concert could remind us of his influential philosophy.
Five brilliant performers were invited to play traditional Chinese musical instruments and demonstrated an intangible cultural heritage, “Namyum” (Southern Sound). The performance was a sample of introducing cultural hybridity which fully mirrored Dr. Li’s philosophy of education. |
