For details about the above activities, please refer to Pages 56 and 58 of the Report of the Master 2020.Staff Appreciation DayTo promote an atmosphere of appreciation and gratitude at the workplace, in 2020, 11 December was designated as the annual Staff Appreciation Day at CUHK.On that day, as a token of appreciation to the College staff for their efforts and contribution to the College, Prof Wai-Yee CHAN, College Master, treated College staff to delicate desserts and gave each of them a thank-you card.Online Christmas Gatherings with the WardenAt the pandemic Christmas 2020, two online gatherings were hosted on 22 and 23 December 2020 respectively by Prof WONG Suk Ying, Warden of the College Hostel, Resident Tutors and members of the Fifth Executive Committee of the Residents' Association, to bring festive cheer to Year 1 College students. The hosts turned up the fun of the gatherings through a play-and-learn Christmas quiz and Christmas song guessing game. Winners in both gatherings received book coupons and/ or cash shopping coupons. Besides mingling online with other College members, the participants were informed of the updated arrangement on hostel accommodation in Term 2, 2020–21 and the visa issue (for non-local students), and expressed their views on various College matters. The gatherings drew a total of 27 student participants. Prof Wai-Yee CHAN, College Master, and Prof Thomas AU, Associate College Master and Dean of Students, made time for both or one of the reunions.Celebrating the Year of the Ox with CWC BuddiesThe Lunar New Year online gathering hosted by Prof WONG Suk Ying, Warden of the College Hostel, Resident Tutors and members of the Sixth Executive Committee of the Residents' Association, on 8 February 2021 was another occasion for College students to unwind, connect and celebrate the festival. Sixteen students, Prof Wai-Yee CHAN, College Master, and Prof Thomas AU, Associate College Master and Dean of Students, joined the event.As icebreakers, the three teachers had casual chats with the participants and invited them to share some of their favourite Lunar New Year customs or food. The highlights of the activity were three thrilling games, including a Lunar New Year quiz, ‘Draw and Guess’ (similar to Pictionary), and ‘Lunar New Year Big TV’ (similar to charades). Winners of the games were awarded cash shopping coupons. Some international students were pleased to learn more about the festive traditions through the games.During the gathering, the participants were each invited to think of a creative greeting message for the Year of the Ox and shared their works near the end of the session. The messages of Ms LUK Ka Wai (Year 1, Professional Accountancy) and Ms WANG Yujiao (Year 2, Energy and Environment Engineering) were voted as the most creative, so each of them received a cash shopping coupon.
