New Asia Lectures on Confucianism 2016 was held last November with Prof. Tsing-song Vincent Shen as the keynote speaker. Prof. Shen is the Professor and Lee Chair in Chinese Thought and Culture, Department of Philosophy and Department of East Asian Studies, University of Toronto.
The first lecture "Learning for Self and Learning for Others: On the Confucian Intersubjectivity" was held on 11 November in the Sir Run Run Shaw Hall, CUHK, and was moderated by Prof.Kwok-ying Lau, Department of Philosophy of CUHK. The second lecture "Human Person, Humaneness and Righteousness: Foundation of Confucian Ethics in responding to Rapid High-Tech Development" was held in the afternoon on 11 November at Lecture Theatre 3 of Lee Shau Kee Building, CUHK, with Prof. Qingjie Wang, Department of Philosophy of CUHK, as the moderator. The third lecture " From Self-planting of Spiritual Roots to Mutual Enrichment: Thinking Through Tang Junyi on Chinese Culture in Diaspora" was held on 12 November at the Lecture Theatre of the Hong Kong Central Library, and was moderated by Prof. Kai-chiu Ng, Department of Philosophy of CUHK.
In these three lectures, Prof. Shen illustrated Confucius philosophy in different dimensions with respect to the individual, the society and the nation, giving a more comprehensive view of Confucianism. At the end of the lectures, each audience was eager to exchange views with Prof. Shen and expressed their sincere gratitude for learning more about Confucianism.
