Having been a member of the Representative Council of the Student Union (SURC) of CWC for more than two years, I certainly believe that this has become the largest part of my College life. I will be missing the Student Union a lot because of what it achieved in the past and the challenges ahead due to the lack of student involvement.
My most memorable moment was when I knew that the University agreed to add a Route 8 school bus stop outside the College so that College students could save 2/3 time spent on travelling from the College to the MTR station. I considered it an epic moment as College students were no longer the 'aliens' at CUHK. Although I was disappointed that the SURC did not receive any open appreciation from our fellow students for this achievement, I slowly understood that recognition and validation should not be my goals. Instead, I should focus on doing the right things for our fellow students and maybe they would bring impact to others' lives.
I have developed great respect for our professors from discussions with them on various College issues. They were always willing to make time to listen to our opinions and constantly showed their sincerity and trust towards us. We might not share the same views all the time, but we had the same motivation to improve the College and its environment. Such respect for younger generations is not as easy as it sounds and I hope that the intimate bonding between College teachers and students can be perpetuated as a distinct characteristic of the College.
I worry that the Student Union/ SURC will no longer flourish if no one is interested in taking up the positions. From my experience, running the Student Union/ SURC should not be considered a burden but a precious learning opportunity. It is my hope that our fellow students would cherish this chance as a demonstration of the College motto: Cultus et Beneficentia!

I still remember the first day when I joined CWC's orientation camp, filled with curiosity, confusion, excitement yet ready to explore the next stage of my journey. I was lucky to have met such caring 'jobamas' (group leaders) and 'o'mates' (group mates), to have a supportive roommate with whom I am in step, and other College fellows who share similar interests with me. These four years were not always smooth and easy: there were ups and downs in academics, job hunting, exploring oneself and even in managing relationships. CWC has given a lot of support through various activities (career-oriented) and resources that allow students to fully discover their interests and capabilities.
People often comment on how small our College is; in fact that is the reason why I like it as it enables communication among College members and creates a more intimate community. I was proud to have joined the committee that helped organise the second CWC Festival, given the small size of our College. This was the time when we all worked towards the same goal and truly enjoyed ourselves, also an opportunity to show others the enchantment of our College. I am also delighted to see the juniors' determination in upholding this tradition and in making better festivals every year!
After four years, I can proudly say that I have lived my College life to my fullest with no regrets. I will always remember CWC as the place where I learnt, grew, discovered and developed. It might be a tough process, but CWC and the College members would always be there for you when you needed guidance! Cheers to the past four years and cheers to better years ahead of us! Happy graduation to the Graduating Class of 2019!
