English Calligraphy Workshop

To inspire College students to write in their own hands to their beloved ones, the English Calligraphy Workshop targeting beginners was held before the Valentine's Day on 12 February 2019. It was hosted by Mr Jeremy ETH, a letter artist and former product designer.

Mr ETH first taught the students how to write with a calligraphy pen at different pen angles and proportions to produce different letter styles. The students were then given a template of fancy letters, to be copied on tracing paper. While they were practising, individual coaching was given to facilitate their creation.

When the students were confident enough to write without the assistance of tracing paper, they could design their own Valentine's Day cards by writing on the envelopes and card covers directly.

The workshop was well received by the students. Some of them even brought the ink back to their rooms to practise lettering. They wished to have more sessions of the workshop next term.
