College Virtual Welcoming Session
The College Orientation Camp (O' Camp) is usually organised every summer on the College campus, for both local and non-local Year 1 students to help them adapt to College life and blend in with the College community.
In summer 2020, owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, student access to the College hostel was still restricted, and face-to-face group activities on campus had to be avoided. Therefore, the College orientation event for new students went online—the Organising Committee of 10 students members planned and put up the Virtual Welcoming Session on 2 September 2020. The session aimed to help new students learn more about the College, make acquaintances with different College members, and build close rapport with their fellow College mates. For details about the College Virtual Welcoming Session, please refer to Pages 33 and 34 of the Report of the Master 2020.Virtual Orientation Activities for Non-local StudentsA series of online orientation activities for new mainland students were organised by the Mainland Undergraduate Association (MUA) in summer 2020. With the coordination of Mr DAI Zijie (Year 2, Computer Science), CWC representative from the MUA, an online College session for our new mainland students was arranged in the early afternoon of 2 September 2020. This session aimed to introduce College campus and facilities to the new students, and provided them with a platform to get acquainted with one another.A College session was held at the virtual orientation camp for new international students on 28 August 2020 by the International Student Association (ISA). A greeting video pre-recorded by Prof Wai-Yee CHAN, College Master, for new CWC international students was presented at the session. In the video, Prof CHAN briefly introduced the College 4‘I’s and urged the students to join the College Virtual Welcoming Session.
