Academic Linkages with Taiwan: 6th Cross-Strait Forum on Humanities and Social Sciences Held at CUHK

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), Nanjing University and Taiwan Central University, co-organised the "6th Cross-Strait Forum on Humanities and Social Sciences" on 19 and 20 November at CUHK. The theme of this year is "Health, Peace and Sustainability – Social Science Perspectives".

Prof. Joseph Sung, Vice-Chancellor of CUHK, together with Prof. Joseph Lee, Vice-President of Taiwan Central University; and Prof. Zhou Xian, Director of the Institute of Advanced Studies in Humanities and Social Studies, Nanjing University, officiated at the opening ceremony on 19 November.

 

Participants comprised scholars from the mainland, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. The forum was convened to link different scholars in humanities and social sciences for a variety of presentations and discussions with the aim to promoting socio-cultural integration in the 3 regions.

 

The Cross-Strait Forum on Humanities and Social Sciences is a tripartite academic activity organized by Nanjing University, CUHK and Taiwan Central University in turn each year with a specific theme. The Forum held in CUHK last time was in 2008 with the theme: "City, Society, Culture – Innovation and Continuation of Tradition".
