The delegation was warmly greeted by Prof. Joseph Sung, Vice-Chancellor of CUHK, Prof. Benjamin Wah, Provost; Pro-Vice-Chancellors Prof. Jack Cheng, Prof. Henry Wong and Prof. Prof. Xu Yangsheng; and representatives from the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery. CUHK representatives presented recent achievements of the University to the delegation. After the meeting, the delegation visited the Institute of Space and Earth Information Science to understand the latest development of the Institute.

During the visit, Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery of Faculty of Medicine, CUHK signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Shenzhen Otolaryngology Institute to bolster academic exchange. CUHK members expressed interest to foster ties in research and education with institutions in Shenzhen. In response to this, Dr. Xu Qin said that Shenzhen Municipal Government would offer its strong support to facilitate the University's collaboration and research work in the region.

With the staunch support of Shenzhen Municipal Government, CUHK has been actively promoting linkages with Shenzhen, which include the establishment of the CAS Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology and the newly opened CUHK Shenzhen Research Institute in developing education, science research and training of talent. The visit provided a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas and Dr. Xu Qin acquired more information of the development of CUHK, paving the way towards closer collaboration in research and education between CUHK and the institutions in Shenzhen.
