The delegation comprised Prof. Joseph Sung, Vice-Chancellor; Prof. Jack Cheng, Pro-Vice-Chancellor; Prof. Christopher Gane, Dean of Law; and representatives from Schools of Biomedical Sciences, Life Science, Departments of Clinical Oncology, Medicine and Therapeutics, Institute of Chinese Medicine, Information Engineering, Sociology, Geography and Resource Management, and Offices of Student Affairs and Academic Links (China).
The delegation visited Jinan University (Jinan U), Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) and Guangzhou Institutes of Biomedicine and Health (GIBH). In meeting with senior members and scientists of the institutions, CUHK delegates received updates on the latest developments and discussed directions to facilitate close collaboration.
During visit to SYSU, Prof. Joseph Sung officiated at the plaque-unveiling ceremony of the Centre for Protein Research jointly established by CUHK and SYSU. Collaboration agreement was signed between the Faculty of Law of CUHK and School of Law of SYSU. The 4th meeting of Steering Committee on Partnership Development between CUHK and SYSU was held after the ceremony. At the meeting, members from joint projects reported the progresses of the projects and reviewed the possibilities to expand cooperation. Agreements were also concluded during the visit with Jinan U and GIBH relating to further collaboration on joint laboratory, research, student interflow and expansion of academic exchange.
The visit consolidated the existing collaborative efforts of CUHK with its partner institutions in Guangzhou and enhanced ties for future development.
