Lecture by the Consul-General of the Republic of Korea

North Korean nuclear issue has drawn considerable attention in the international community. With the launch of the North Korean missiles and its nuclear test in July and October respectively, the nuclear issue could be headed for a prolonged stalemate or even a full-blown crisis. The University has invited Mr. Cho Whan Bok, Consul-General of the Republic of Korea, Hong Kong and Macau to deliver lecture on this issue on campus. Seats are limited and available on a first-come first-served basis. Alumni are welcome to register and attend. Details of the lecture are as follows:

Upcoming Celebratory Activities of United College's 50th Anniversary

Weeks of United College's 50th Anniversary celebration activities in October including an opening ceremony, a fun run, an open bazaar, the Ceremony marking the College's 50th Anniversary as well as the "feast-for-a-thousand" – the highlight of the anniversary activities, were successfully concluded. Meanwhile, Professor F. Sherwood Rowland, 1995 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry and Donald Bren Research Professor of Chemistry and Earth System Science, University of California, Irvine, U.S.A., visited United College between October 15 and 21, as the first Distinguished Visiting Scholar in the College's 50th Anniversary Year.

To commemorate the Golden Jubilee of United College, a number of celebratory activities such as the "Golden Jubilee Anniversary Concert" (November 18) and the "United College 50th Anniversary Banquet" (December 2) will be held. 30th Anniversary Reunion Gathering for NA Graduates of Class of 1976

NA Graduates of the Class of 1976 will have their 30th anniversary reunion gathering at 3pm on November 25, 2006 at Yun Chi Hsien Restaurant, New Asia College. If you are a graduate from the Class of 1976 and feel interested in the reunion gathering, please call Mrs Josephine Chan of the Dean of Students' Office, Chung Chi College at 2609 7612.


Visit to Western District's Historical Spots with Shaw Alumni

The "Visit to Western District's Historical Spots" will be held on December 2 by Shaw College Alumni Affairs Committee. With the detailed and interesting introduction by Prof. Ho Pui-yin of the Department of History, Shaw alumni can discover the interesting history of the western district of Hong Kong Island and the Tung Wah Coffin Home, which was recognized with the Award of Merit in the 2005 Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards for Culture Heritage Conservation by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.

Details of the event will be announced on the Shaw College homepage and will be sent to Shaw alumni by email.


AGM and Election of New Executive Committee of Shaw College Alumni Association for 2006-2008

The annual general meeting and election of new executive committee of the Shaw College Alumni Association will be held on December 15. All Shaw alumni are welcome to join this meaningful event to know the latest news of the College, and to support the development of the College's alumni affairs.

Computer Science and Engineering Alumni Reunion Day

The Computer Science and Engineering Alumni Association will organize a Reunion Day on Jan 20, 2007 (Saturday). Programmes of the event include presentation of current research projects, back-to-lecture session, CSE forum and dinner gathering. CSE alumni are welcome to join. A New Book Published by the Chung Chi Alumni Association in Celebration of the College's 55th Anniversary
