Science Enrichment Programme for Secondary 3-4 Students

Organized by the Faculty of Science and supported by the Quality Education Fund, the "Science Enrichment Programme for Secondary 3-4 Students" is designed particularly for Secondary 3 students who exhibit passion and capability in science. It is an 18-month training programme with 3 study phases aiming to provide gifted science students with opportunities to explore and develop their higher order thinking skills, creativity and personal-social competencies.

Programme Content / Fees
- Phase 1 (Feb–Apr 2007): Science workshops including tutorials and fieldtrips/ HK$400
- Phase 2 (Jul–Dec 2007): A summer study camp and thematic lectures/ HK$2,000
- Phase 3 (Feb–Jul 2008): Group research/ Free

Application Fee: HK$100 (non-refundable). Application fee for school nominees is waived

Application Deadline: November 10, 2006 (Friday)

"Passing on the Torch: Exhibition of 65 Years of Children's Literature in Hong Kong"

The libraries of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and The Hong Kong Institute of Education (HKIEd) will jointly organize the "Passing on the Torch: Exhibition of 65 Years of Children's Literature in Hong Kong" with the Hong Kong Public Libraries. On display will be the handpicked creations by over 30 children's literature writers in Hong Kong and a number of valuable magazines and journals in children's literature. Details of the exhibition are as follows:

Public lectures will be organized and "Guided Tours for Secondary Students", which further introduce to the participants the development history of children's literature and valuable collections, will be provided after the public lectures on November 11 at the CUHK. Cantonese Opera Talk – 梨園新星說粵劇

Organized by the Chinese Opera Information Centre of the Music Department, the Cantonese opera talk – 梨園新星說粵劇 will be held on November 11. Hosted by Professor Chan Sau Yan of Music Department, young Cantonese opera artists will share their experience in learning the art and their views on the future development of Cantonese opera.
