Residents' Association

The Fifth Executive Committee of the Residents' Association, Cosmos, organised the following activities for the College residents (mid-February to mid-March 2019):

CWChucolate

A Valentine's Day special event, 'CWChucolate', was organised on 13 February 2019. The event aimed to encourage residents to express their sincere love and thankfulness not only to their lovers but also to their friends, roommates and family members, through handmade gifts. Participants made their own lovely packets of chocolates with handmade chocolates and ribbon flowers, all the ingredients and other decorative materials being provided by Cosmos. A heartwarming atmosphere was created and extended among the residents who put great efforts into preparing the handmade chocolates for their beloved ones.

Chinese Desserts DIY

The activity Chinese Desserts DIY was held on 19 February 2019, which is the Chinese Lantern Festival (Yuanxiao Festival). During the activity, participants, including local and non-local residents, joyfully tried to handmake a kind of sticky Chinese desserts, taro balls. After their hard work, participants could enjoy the fruit of their labour, having a taste of the sweet soup.

Traditionally, sticky desserts such as taro balls signify sweet attachment to loved ones. Cosmos hoped that the College residents could feel their intimacy with one another after making and eating taro balls.

CWCNY—Red Packet Decorations Workshop

To celebrate the Lunar New Year, Red Packet Decorations Workshop was organised on 21 February 2019. Around 10 residents had a great time making handcrafts together during the workshop. Members of Cosmos taught the participants how to turn red packets into beautiful festive decorations. The participants were guided to make a paper goldfish, pig or even crane with just one red packet. Some creative participants even drew on their works to make them unique. It was definitely a memorable night for both the participants and Cosmos.

The Handicraft SeriesDreamcatcher

'The Handicraft Series—Dreamcatcher' was organised on 6 March 2019. Around 15 residents, both local and non-local, participated in the activity. Under the guidance of Cosmos, they made their own personalised dreamcatchers with iron rings, strings, feathers, glue and beads. All of the participants could finish their works in the activity, and were able to take away their self-made delicate decoration.

CWGalaSingatolia

'CWGala—Singatolia', the singing contest 2019 was held on two days, the heat on 13 March 2019 and the final on 27 March 2019. The contest was an occasion for College students to showcase their singing and dancing talent on stage. After the first round of contests, six individuals and four groups proceeded to the final. The heat was rounded off by the entertaining performances of three groups of CWChill. On the day of the final, the guests Ms Sinnie NG and Ms Sammi WONG livened up the atmosphere with their spectacular performances and offered professional comments to the contestants. Prof Wai Yee CHAN, College Master, and Prof Thomas AU, Associate College Master and Dean of Students, came to support the contestants who put their best foot forward and brought the participants and the audience an unforgettable music night.
