Friends of I·CARE

This Centre is entrusted with the administration of the I·CARE Programme which was launched in 2011 committing to offering informal whole-person education to students based on the I·CARE Framework.  In line with its motto "Aspiration through Reflection; Renewal through Civility", the I·CARE Programme aims to inspire students to actively partake in social and civic services.  It also facilitates the release of students' holistic competencies so that they will become able to enhance the wellness of people in the local, regional and global communities.

Activities under the I‧CARE Programme are mainly carried out through eight areas: (1) University Lecture on Civility; (2) Social Service Projects Scheme; (3) Local Poverty Alleviation Initiative; (4) Community Research Scheme; (5) Social Enterprise Startup Scheme; (6) NGO Internship Programme; (7) I·CARE Achievers Programme; and (8) Yunus Social Business Centre at CUHK.  This Centre also oversees the Student Development Portfolio and organises/ coordinates activities to enrich student life (e.g. "CUHK Campus Tour" and "Jockey Club Charles Kao Brain Health Services Project").

Throughout the growth of the I‧CARE Programme, huge support has been received.  They are from the University units like the Information Services Office and the Office of Institutional Advancement, and from people who do not mind lending us helping hands without monetary return or other recognition.  Three of the latter include Dr. Pang Kam-moon (Office of University General Education), Dr. Tong Shiu-sing (Department of Physics) and Ms. Gentiana Cheung (School of Hotel and Tourism Management).  Their contribution of time and assistance to the "Playing a University Student for a Day" event under the I·CARE Cross-generational Integration Programme is one of the driving forces behind the service that CUHK students render to the community.
