13 institutions on the mainland and Taiwan with 32 students participated in the program, including Beijing Normal University, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Academy of Social Science, Fudan University, Hunan Normal University, Peking University, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Sun Yat-sen University, Taiwan University, Taiwan Chiao Tung University, Taiwan Dong Hwa University, Tsinghua University and Zhejiang University. Participants took part in research internship for 8 weeks on different projects covering Biomedical Science, Chemistry, Chinese Medicine, Electronic Engineering, Mathematics, History, Housing Innovations, Philosophy, Physics, Space and Earth Information Science and Systems Engineering and Engineering Management.
Apart from research training, the students were provided with opportunities to interflow with postgraduate students of CUHK and to tour key research facilities in the University. Visits were also arranged to some major public organizations in Hong Kong, such as Hong Kong Equal Opportunities Commission and Independent Commission Against Corruption and Legislative Council. These activities provided the participants with a broader picture of CUHK and Hong Kong.
A closing ceremony was held on August 12 with the attendance of Prof. Jack Cheng, Vice President of CUHK and related professors participating in the programme. Presenting certificates to the participants, Prof. Cheng said that the placement programme has not only created a valuable learning opportunity for mainland and Taiwan postgraduate students to study in Hong Kong, but also strengthened partnership with the University's key partners on the mainland and Taiwan.
