College Orientation Camp 2019

To most of its first-year students, the unique College system of CUHK should be one of the most novel elements in their university life. The College Orientation Camp (O' Camp) is organised just before the start of each academic year to introduce new students to life in their Colleges. The O' Camp also helps these students develop a sense of belonging to their College communities, and learn about the support available in their Colleges, as they go through an important transition in life.

The CWC O' Camp 2019 from 26 to 29 August was planned and run by an Organising Committee (OC) comprising nine members to welcome all local students, as well as non-local students from the rest of China and around the world newly admitted to the College. During the four-day-three-night camp, the newcomers were divided into eight groups, each of which was guided by three to six senior students as counsellors. They participated in mass games and group activities such as ice breaking games, CWC and CU hunt, room escape games, and campfire dance.

Thanks to the camp, the new students got to learn more about CWC and its campus. They also met their College mates in different majors and across different years of study, with whom they started to build up friendships.

For more details about the O' Camp, please refer to Pages 32–34 of the Report of the Master 2019. You may also revisit the treasured moments at the College photo album.
