Prof Tjonnie Guang Feng Li, Research Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, is one of the team members sharing in the 2016 Special Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics, for their observation of gravitational waves, opening new horizons in astronomy and physics.

Prof Li is one of the authors of the paper 'Observation of Gravitational Waves from a Binary Black Hole Merger' (Physical Review Letters, 11 February 2016).

Appointments and Staff Movement

Prof Thomas Au, College Fellow, has been appointed Acting Dean of Students of CW Chu College for the period from 1 January 2016 to 31 July 2016.

Prof Wong Suk Ying, College Fellow and Warden of CW Chu College Hostel, has been appointed Associate Vice-President of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, with effect from 1 February 2016, for two years. She resigned from the position of Dean of Students of CW Chu College, with effect from 1 January 2016.

Ms Christy Au, Project Coordinator, has reported for duty on 3 February 2016.

Ms Olivia Cheung, Project Coordinator, has reported for duty on 14 March 2016.

Prof Cecilia Chun has been appointed Honorary Fellow of CW Chu College, with effect from 21 April 2016, for a term of five years. Prof Chun retired from the position of Associate Professor, Department of Curriculum and Instruction, with effect from 1 August 2015; she was also the Associate Dean (Undergraduate Studies) of Faculty of Education before her retirement. She has been appointed Director of Centre for Learning Enhancement And Research (CLEAR), CUHK, with effect from 1 August 2015, for three years.
