4. Departmental Activities
Dual Degree Programme and Collaboration with The University of Edinburgh (UoE) |
The Department of Statistics, CUHK and School of Mathematics, UoE jointly offer the Dual Degree Programme (DDP). Each student participating in the DDP will graduate with two bachelor’s degrees, one each from CUHK and UoE. The first cohort will start in 2023–24.

| Symposium on Statistics and Risk Management 2022 |
The Symposium on Statistics and Risk Management 2022 was successfully held on 9 and 10 December 2022 via Zoom. On the occasion of celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Department of Statistics, the symposium gathered internationally renowned scholars to present state-of-the-art research topics in statistics and risk management in order to facilitate an exchange of ideas.

The 12th ICSA International Conference was held by the Department of Statistics and International Chinese Statistical Association (ICSA) from 7 July 2023 to 9 July 2023 at Henry Cheng International Conference Center, Cheng Yu Tung Building, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK).

| Science Faculty 60th Anniversary Distinguished Science Lecture - Prof. Fan Jianqing |
In celebration of the 60th anniversary of The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Faculty of Science, a distinguished lecture was organised by the department in conjunction with the Faculty of Science. Prof. Fan Jianqing, Frederick L. Moore ‘18 Professor of Finance, Professor of Statistics and Professor of Operations Research and Financial Engineering at Princeton University, was invited to present his current research in the field of statistics.

MSc in Advanced Studies in Statistics and Data Science will be offered by the Department of Statistics in academic year 2024-25. The programme is tailored for students with strong statistics and data science background and interest in further explorations of the subjects.
