Interactive Activity for Teachers and Postgraduate Students

Autumn is a lovely season for outdoor activities, with a refreshing breeze. To enhance communication between teachers and students and to relieve academic pressure, 41 teaching staff and research postgraduate students enjoyed a barbecue night on 24 November 2024.

Career Talk "Road to a Statistician" by Ms. May Ng (Census and Statistics Department, HKSAR)

The Department invited Ms. May Ng, Statistician from the Census and Statistics Department, HKSAR, to deliver a career talk on 11 February 2025 (Tuesday). Ms. Ng introduced the Census and Statistics Department and its career opportunities. Additionally, Additionally, a Statistician who graduated from our department shared insights during a session.

Career Talk by Mr. Ted Yu (HSBC)

The Department invited Mr. Ted Yu, Regional Head of Traded Risk Analytics at HSBC, to deliver a career talk on 24 February 2025 (Monday) during which Mr. Yu shared his experiences, career opportunities in the industry and his expertise in the banking sector and risk management.

Visit to the Census and Statistics Department, HKSAR

The Department arranged a visit to the Census and Statistics Department, HKSAR (C&SD) on 28 March 2025 (Friday). During the visit, students learned more about the organization and operations of C&SD, the official statistics in Hong Kong, the application of data science in statistical work, and the career opportunities available at C&SD.

Mr. Jeffrey Zhang from the Census and Statistics Department, HKSAR (C&SD) gave a talk on 10 April 2025 (Thursday), introducing the career opportunities in C&SD and the 2026 population census.

Company Visit to Bloomberg

The department arranged a company visit to the Bloomberg Hong Kong office on 21 March 2025, where students learned to navigate the Bloomberg terminals and gained insights into job opportunities.
